Muthoot Pappachan Foundation
Armed with a commitment to society, the Muthoot Pappachan Foundation (MPF), a Public Charitable Trust - the CSR arm of Muthoot Pappachan Group (MPG) was formed which has touched thousands of lives through its diverse programs. It tackles issues affecting the communities in which its businesses operate. Our primary aim is to build a portfolio of CSR activities that are in line with our core strengths as a business and our various business units. Such CSR initiatives of MPG revolve around the theme ‘HEEL’, covering ‘Health, Education, Environment and Livelihood’.
The Foundation is a crucial part of the MPG’s corporate sustainability mandate, and provides a mechanism from which to engage both internal and external stakeholders, whilst implementing a variety of different programs at the grassroots level.
This engagement is integral to everything we do and our programs ensure a meaningful ‘hands on’ engagement for the employees of the MPG.
We aim to generate:
- Social returns together with financial returns, while imbibing the organization’s ethos and value systems
- Sustainability for the organization by 'Engaging with the Community.'
Health initiatives:
Education Initiatives:
- Muthoot Football Academy : To encourage and train youngsters who have the passion and skills for football. The aim of the Academy is to pick and choose young football talent from the country, at an age in which they can be moulded and trained to become some of the finest footballers in India.
Located in Kochi, the Academy brings international coaching and training facilities through a curriculum prepared by foreign coaches.
- Magic Bus India Foundation : Sports for Development is an intervention project implemented by a pioneering NGO in the country - Magic Bus India Foundation. The goal of the programme is to empower 4,500 children from marginalized sections at the outskirts of Kochi and coastal Panchayats in Trivandrum district, Kerala State, in the area of Education, Gender equity, Right to Play, Physical Fitness, Healthy Behaviour and Socio Emotional Learning using the sport for development approach “Making Sports a Culture”.
Environment Initiatives
- Muthoot Alternate Energy Resources: MPG’s dedicated venture for supporting green initiatives
Started the wind energy project in 1993 at wind farms located in Muppandhal village in Kanyakumari district in Tamil Nadu with a total installed capacity of 26.5 MW.
Livelihood Initiatives
- ERNAKULAM CRICKET CLUB : a charitable organisation, towards providing training related to Cricket and related events. Special attention is given to aspiring players from challenging backgrounds to get trained professionally in cricket to excel and make a career in this track.
- ATTAKKALARI SCHOLARSHIPS: Support the youth who are talented in dance from deserving backgrounds to pursue a professional Diploma in Performance and Movement Arts organized by Attakkalaci Centre for Movement Arts, Bengaluru.
- THE STREEJYOTI PROGRAM : Its a livelihood initiative by the MPG created to educate budding women entrepreneurs and help them be financially literate. This programme has coverage in Kerala, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu and more than 25,000 women entrepreneurs have been trained to date.
